Human Rights Resources

Human rights have become increasingly relevant to sustainable seafood conversations worldwide. Instances of human rights and labor abuses, like human trafficking and forced labor, have been documented in the production of seafood products sold by major U.S. and European retailers. Unfortunately, many seafood companies that have worked hard to create environmentally sustainable seafood sourcing policies are learning that human rights abuses may be occurring in their own supply chains. To address these issues, seafood companies may expand their policies to address human rights issues. FishWise continues to work alongside our retail partners and a growing network of key experts and organizations to understand and improve human rights issues in seafood supply chains.
